HDI Global UK & Ireland, the commercial insurance arm of HDI, has appointed Louise Radford as Active Underwriter for its planned Lloyd’s Syndicate 2029, as the business continues preparations for the new underwriting platform.
Radford currently serves as Head of Financial Lines at HDI UK & Ireland and will retain responsibility for the division alongside her new position. She will continue to report to Adam Curran, Chief Underwriting Officer – Specialty.
Radford joined HDI in 2020 as a Senior Underwriter within the company’s Management Liability team. Her career has included underwriting and broking positions, as well as experience in the Lloyd’s market.
HDI Global UK & Ireland said the appointment follows Lloyd’s recent Approval in Principle for the establishment of Syndicate 2029. The new syndicate is expected to sit alongside HDI’s existing insurance operations and international capabilities, giving clients and brokers an additional route to the company’s specialist underwriting expertise through the Lloyd’s market.
As Active Underwriter, Radford will oversee the syndicate’s underwriting strategy, portfolio performance, regulatory requirements and risk appetite. HDI said she will also lead its underwriting activities and have a role in developing the syndicate’s longer-term direction, with an emphasis on underwriting discipline, technical standards and portfolio quality.
The appointment forms part of HDI’s preparations for the launch of Syndicate 2029 and supports the company’s wider Xcelerate29 strategy.
