QBE Re, the reinsurance arm of global insurance group QBE, has announced the appointment of Will Moss as its London head of maritime, energy and aviation.

He will succeed Shane Lawlor, who was appointed global professional executive director of QBE Re in 2025.

In his new role, Moss will be responsible for QBE Re’s shipping, energy and aviation portfolio in its London office as the reinsurer continues to expand its business.

The executive will report to QBE Re International executive director Mark Jackaman, who said: “We are delighted to welcome someone of Will’s caliber to QBE Re to lead our London-based maritime, energy and aviation team.

“These product lines are core components of QBE Re’s professional and broader product portfolio. Will’s experience will play a key role in strengthening customer relationships and driving continued growth for the business.”

Moss has more than two decades of reinsurance experience and joins QBE Re from Aspen Re where he served as head of marine, energy, terror, agriculture and cyber.

He initially joined Aspen Re in 2004 as a Specialty Underwriter and was subsequently appointed Senior Specialty Underwriter, Asia Pacific, based in Singapore.

During this time, he helped develop the company’s agricultural, aviation, PA, maritime and terrorism reinsurance product portfolios. Moss was subsequently appointed director of agriculture in London, a position he held for nearly four years.
