Adéla has hit out at Donald Trump and his administration for using her song in a social media post without permission.

The Slovak singer is currently enjoying global success off the back of her hit Nicole Kidman, which the White House used in a video earlier this week to encourage people to vote Republican in the US midterms.

Posting on her own TikTok the following morning, Adéla told her followers that she’d woken up to discover the video, which she branded “so fucking wrong on so many levels, because I stand for about zero of the things that party stands for, and that person stands for”.

“I feel like they’ve been doing this a lot with a lot of other artists just to rage-bait people and generate more attention for their flopping accounts,” she continued, referring to recent incidents involving the likes of Sabrina Carpenter, Olivia Rodrigo, Taylor Swift, and Britain’s own Jade. “So I would urge you not to go and watch that video.

“But let me use this attention to give you a message of my own. As the singer of the song Nicole Kidman, I, too, urge you to go out and vote in today’s midterms. I personally can’t do that, because I am an immigrant, but I would love to do that and if I had the power I would. And so, please do.”

“And by we, I mean you,” she added. “Because I can’t do it, because I’m an immigrant, which [makes it] crazy that they would use my [song]. But they did!”

“Fuck you guys for using my song,” Adéla concluded, accompanying her post with a blue heart, in a nod to the Democratic Party.

In the US midterms, the Democrats wound up performing even better than polls predicted in a landmark win, seizing control of both the House of Representatives and the US Senate, as voters turned against the American president.
