Global insurance and reinsurance brokerage group Howden has appointed Junichiro Ito as head of natural resources for Japan.
Ito has over 20 years of experience in offshore wind, insurance and risk management.
Prior to joining Howden, he worked at GE Vernova, most recently as country leader for Japan’s offshore wind business. In this role, he led policy engagement, sales and commercial strategy and contract negotiations with key stakeholders including government, partners and customers, driving large-scale offshore wind programmes, including floating wind and local supply chain development.
Prior to joining GE Vernova, Ito served as deputy manager at Tokio Marine & Nichido Fire Insurance Co., Ltd., where he oversaw renewable energy offshore wind underwriting, reinsurance, risk consulting and marketing.
Ito’s appointment marks an important step in strengthening Howden’s natural resources business in Asia.
Matthew Savitt, Managing Director and Head of Natural Resources, commented: “This is the first step in an ambitious strategy to strengthen our natural resources capabilities across the region and in one of Asia’s most important markets, combining deep local expertise with Howden’s global reach.
“Having someone of Jun’s caliber leading our Japan operations provides us with an excellent platform to better support domestic customers and Japan’s interests abroad.
“This is just the beginning. I’m very excited about the future as we continue to invest in our people, expand our capabilities and build a truly market-leading natural resource proposition across Asia.”
