For the last few weeks, reports in the media have suggested that the casting process for the next James Bond has become a two-horse race between British actors Jack Lowden and Jack Barton.

However, it seems there’s one name that everyone may have been counting out too early.

Towards the end of summer, Page Six reported that screen tests for Daniel Craig’s successor had begun, with Jacob Elordi, Callum Turner, Paul Mescal and Harris Dickinson all reported to be in contention for the role of 007.

In the weeks that followed, there’ve been conflicting reports in the press suggesting the two Jacks as favourites for the job – but it’s now been suggested that Jacob may also be a top choice.

In the latest instalment of the entertainment newsletter The InSneider, journalist Jeff Sneider alleged that the James Bond testing process was now complete, with the Slow Horses and Euphoria actors supposedly having been part of it throughout.

The writer also claimed that Jacob was now the one expected to be landing the coveted role of 007, and that we should expect an announcement “very, very soon”.

HuffPost UK has contacted reps for both Jacob Elordi and production company Amazon MGM for comment.

Jacob rose to global fame as Nate in Euphoria, as well as taking the lead in Netflix’s rom-com film series The Kissing Booth.

The next James Bond film, the 26th in the official 007 canon, will be helmed by Dune director Denis Villeneuve, with Peaky Blinders and House Of Guinness creator Steven McKnight writing the script.

Producer Amy Pascal shared earlier this year that she and her creative team were on the look-out for “something really different” when it comes to the next James Bond.

She added that producers were hoping to cast someone “stirring and exciting and different”.
