Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance (BHSI), the commercial insurance arm of Berkshire Hathaway, has promoted Ben Wyatt to head of North America and UK marine, effective immediately.

BHSI has expanded Wyatt’s leadership responsibilities outside the United States to include overseeing its maritime operations in the United Kingdom and Canada.

In his new role, Wyatt will drive underwriting, strategy and portfolio management in these regions, increasing coordination and further strengthening BHSI’s global maritime platform.

Additionally, with Nick retiring in June, he will work closely with Nick Holding, Head of Marine Corps, UK.

Sanjay Godhwani, head of BHSI North America, commented: “Bringing our North American and UK maritime businesses under Ben’s leadership reflects our continued commitment to building a unified, high-performance global platform.

“This alliance enables us to provide our clients and brokers with greater consistency, deeper expertise and a more integrated approach to underwriting and servicing. Backed by BHSI’s long-term commitment, financial strength and underwriting discipline, we are well-positioned to deliver meaningful capabilities and tailored solutions to the marine market.”

Meanwhile, BHSI has also strengthened its U.S. Marine Corps leadership team with the promotions of Gregg Shannon to vice president, Contractor Equipment and Inland Marine Division, and Jim Norman to vice president, Inland Marine Division.

These leadership changes, coupled with the recent appointment of Kevin Kempf as Vice President, Ocean Cargo/Inventory Throughput, further strengthen BHSI’s ocean freight capabilities in key markets.
