Willis Re, the reinsurance advisory and broking joint venture between Bain Capital (BCIS) and WTW, has hired Guy Carpenter’s John Fletcher as chief executive officer (CEO) of its Bermuda platform, effective immediately.
Fletcher has over 35 years of reinsurance and retrocession experience and is considered the island’s most experienced practitioner.
Most recently, he served as Bermuda CEO of Marsh Reinsurance broker Guy Carpenter, leading the company’s Bermuda operations since 2018. He moved to Bermuda in 2013 to lead Guy Carpenter’s property vintage team.
Over the course of his career, Fletcher has developed extensive expertise in delivering bespoke reinsurance solutions and has developed long-term relationships with clients and market participants around the world.
As CEO of Willis Re Bermuda, Fletcher is responsible for driving business growth and the continued development of the team. He will also oversee the execution and implementation of strategic plans aligned with the broker’s objectives and oversee all operational activities, working to ensure the business remains agile and responsive to changing market dynamics.

The appointment comes one day after Willis Re announced Jim Summers as its new global chief executive of specialties.
