Adam Bass has been appointed head of maritime and aviation treaties at international specialist insurer Hiscox, replacing market veteran Guy Ellis, who is retiring later this year.
Bass joined Hiscox in 2006 as an art and coin underwriter, bringing extensive institutional knowledge and technical expertise to the position. He then moved to the Maritime and Aviation Treaties Division, where he worked for 26 years. .
“During that time,” Bass commented, “I’ve had the pleasure of working alongside some of the most talented underwriters, brokers and cedants in the market, and I look forward to building on the strong foundation that Guy and the broader team have established.”
Bass will take over leadership responsibilities from Ellis, an experienced Marine X/L underwriter with a strong reputation in the industry.
Ellis’ retirement marks the end of an influential 28-year tenure at Hiscox, during which he branched out into the specialty reinsurance market.
