Willis Re, the reinsurance advisory and broking joint venture between Bain Capital (BCIS) and WTW, has appointed Jonathan Ogilvie as global head of non-maritime specialties and Chris Dart as head of Bermuda Treaty reinsurance, effective immediately.
London-based Ogilvy and Bermuda-based Dart will lead their respective teams to oversee portfolio performance and support the continued expansion of their reinsurance platforms, Willis Re said.
The company said both parties will work closely with colleagues and trading partners to enhance market engagement and enhance service delivery in their respective markets.
Willis Re board member Lucy Clarke commented: “Jon and Chris are outstanding additions to Willis Re, bringing a wealth of technical expertise, market knowledge and leadership experience that will be instrumental in the growth of our business.
“Their appointments represent an important step in our continued growth, strengthening our capabilities, broadening our market reach and enabling us to support customers around the world with increasingly complex solutions.”
Ogilvie has over 20 years’ experience in the insurance, reinsurance and retrocession markets in London and Bermuda.
Prior to joining Willis Re, he was head of Bermuda property transfers at Guy Carpenter and previously held management roles in the company’s London business covering property, professional and casualty lines.
Dart, meanwhile, joins Willis Re with 23 years of experience in Bermuda and London, specializing in property treaty and retrocession reinsurance solutions for clients globally.
Most recently, he served as Managing Director and Head of Bermuda Property Treaties at Guy Carpenter. Prior to that, he was a senior broker with John B. Collins & Associates in Bermuda.
Ogilvie said: “Willis Re is building a strong platform with significant growth potential. Specialized domain expertise combined with advanced capabilities in data, technology and analytics provides a strong proposition to clients in non-maritime specialty markets. I am delighted to be joining the team at such an exciting stage in its development.”
Dart added: “As treaty reinsurance programs become more complex, clients increasingly require advice that combines technical excellence, market insight and creativity.
“Willis Re’s approach enables brokers to develop bespoke solutions developed specifically around client objectives. It’s exciting to be part of a business that places such emphasis on collaboration and delivering optimal results.”
