Reinsurer Topsail Re has confirmed the promotion of Michael Swartz to senior vice president of underwriting and appointed Jason Callaway to the company’s executive team as chief information officer and executive vice president.
Michael Swartz has been with the organization for more than two and a half years, serving as senior vice president after making contributions in the underwriting department.
Swartz is recognized internally for his ability to approach complex tasks with a structured and rigorous approach, as well as for his detailed preparation and analytical perspective on transactions.
He also has a strong reputation among brokers and clients for his professional conduct and discreet approach, supporting the development of strong relationships and enhancing the firm’s position in the market.
Jason Callaway joins Topsail Re with more than two decades of experience in global reinsurance and property and casualty.
As chief information officer and executive vice president, Callaway will lead the company’s technology strategy and contribute at the executive level.
He previously held senior leadership roles at Swiss Re, XL Group (later AXA XL) and Vantage Risk, where he oversaw cloud transformation, data strategy and digital product development initiatives across underwriting, policy administration, billing and claims.
Callaway holds a degree in industrial engineering from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a certificate in business administration from the Grainger School of Business. He has a proven track record of aligning technology initiatives with broader business goals while growing collaborative, globally distributed teams. Outside of work, Callaway is active in the community, including youth sports and volunteering at a nonprofit food bank.
