Tokio Marine HCC (TMHCC), a specialty insurance company headquartered in Houston, Texas, announced the appointment of Megann Pfeffer as president of its public risk group, effective immediately, reporting to Matt Overlan, chief executive officer of Tokio Marine HCC – Specialty Group.

Pfeffer joined the organization in 2022 as chief operating officer of the public risk group. Since then, she has overseen the division’s operational performance and financial results while leading initiatives in underwriting, technology, analytics and product development.

She has more than 25 years of experience in the specialty insurance market, having held senior positions in executive leadership, underwriting, operations, actuarial science and corporate strategy.

Pfeffer will now be responsible for the overall management and long-term strategy of the Public Risk Group, which provides insurance products to public sector organizations, including municipalities and special districts.

The company said her priorities in her new role will include supporting sustainable profitable growth, strengthening the group’s specialty market presence, expanding its product capabilities and continuing to create value for policyholders, distribution partners and employees.

Overlan commented, “Megann is the ideal candidate to take our public risk services to the next level. Her knowledge of the industry is second to none at a time when communities are facing increasing pressures from litigation, severe weather and tight budgets. Since Megann joined us in 2022, she has earned the trust of colleagues, clients and partners through her outstanding work. I have no doubt that Public Risk will go from strength to strength with her as president.”

Pfeffer added, “I am proud of what the TMHCC team has accomplished over the past few years and excited about our next steps. We have the right people and the right focus to help public entities navigate an increasingly complex market, and I look forward to leading this effort as president.”
