SompoRe has strengthened its London leadership team with two senior appointments, naming Andrew Harper as Head of London, Reinsurance, and Oliver Goodwin as Head of London Specialty Reinsurance and Head of Reinsurance for Lloyd’s.
Harper takes on the role after nearly a decade at Sompo, most recently serving as SVP from March 2021, having previously been VP at the company from April 2017.
Before Sompo, he was VP at Endurance from August 2015 to April 2017, and prior to that spent close to three years as an Underwriter at Montpelier Reinsurance Holdings in Bermuda.
Harper began his career as a broker at Aon Benfield in London, where he spent eight years from 2004 to 2012.
Meanwhile, Goodwin has joined Sompo from Aspen Insurance, where he served as Global Head of Specialty at Aspen Re, overseeing reinsurance solutions across complex risk classes including agriculture, marine and energy.
Before that, Goodwin spent eight years as a Senior Underwriter at Canopius, underwriting a mixed portfolio of LMX, FMX and Pro Rata treaties across marine, energy, terror and composite reinsurance.
Earlier in his career, he was a Marine XL Underwriter at Antares Underwriting Services, where he underwrote a Marine Excess of Loss account spanning 64 territories and 8 marine classes with £17.5m of gross net income, focusing on the Foreign Market XL book. He started out as a Marine and Energy Reinsurance Broker at Aon Benfield.
