Sompo Asia Pacific (Sompo APAC), part of Sompo International Holdings Ltd, announced the appointment of Canon Liu as head of financial services for Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan.
Liu will be based in Hong Kong and lead Sompo’s Financial Lines underwriting strategy in the region, driving growth and portfolio expansion in directors and officers, professional indemnity, financial institutions and cyber insurance.
He has a strong track record in financial insurance underwriting, portfolio management and market development, as well as expertise in corporate risk underwriting and product innovation.
Prior to joining Sompo, Liu was at QBE Asia where he led the financial business portfolio across D&O, professional indemnity, criminal, medical malpractice and cyber, developing portfolio strategy and driving profitable growth through disciplined underwriting and commercially focused execution.
Prior to joining QBE, he spent 13 years at AIG, most recently as a senior underwriting manager, where he was responsible for managing a profitable commercial and financial institution portfolio to achieve stable growth while maintaining underwriting discipline and portfolio quality.
