Dan Malloy, a veteran insurance and reinsurance executive and former CEO of United Risk, SiriusPoint and Third Point Re, joins specialist MGA Banyan Risk on 1 May 2026 as executive managing director.
Malloy brings four decades of industry experience, including senior management and leadership roles at various brokers, insurers and reinsurers, and joins Banyan Risk as it enters its next phase of growth and further expands its underwriting platform.
In his new role, Malloy will work closely with Banyan Risk co-founders and CEOs Tim Usher-Jones and Peter Horrobin, as well as MGA’s leadership team. He is tasked with supporting the business’s continued growth across people, products and geographies.
While serving as CEO of Bermuda-based reinsurance/insurance company SiriusPoint, Malloy played a key role in establishing the partnership between SiriusPoint and Banyan Risk and has therefore been closely involved with the company since its inception in 2021 and is described as a long-term contributor to the early development of MGA.
Usher-Jones commented: “Dan is a well-respected industry leader with a track record of profitable growth across specialty insurance and reinsurance platforms. His experience and perspective will be invaluable as we continue to grow the business and build on the momentum we have built.”
“Dan has been part of the Banyan story from the beginning and has a clear understanding of what it takes to build a high-performing underwriting platform,” said Horrobin. “Having him return to a full-time leadership role is an important step for us as we continue to grow the business and expand our underwriting capabilities.”
Speaking about his new role, Malloy said: “What really drew me back to Banyan was the substance of what Peter, Tim and the team were building. In a relatively short period of time, the business has grown from a focused D&O platform to a much broader one with real depth and credibility. This transformation didn’t happen by accident – “
Malloy’s appointment further strengthens the company’s senior leadership, following the addition of John Berger, Bob Cox and Andrew Cook to Banyan Risk’s advisory board in March.
