Jack Lowden has spoken for the first time about rumours that he’s set to join the James Bond franchise.
The Slow Horses actor has long been considered a frontrunner to take over the role of 007 from Daniel Craig, with reports recently suggesting he was down to the final four actors who took part in screen tests towards the end of last month.
While many in Jack’s life – including his wife Saoirse Ronan and co-star Sir Gary Oldman – have addressed the speculation in interviews, the man himself has remained noticeably tight-lipped.
During a new interview with GQ Hype, he was asked about Sir Gary’s comments in support of him playing James Bond, to which he groaned: “Oh Christ…”
“On this [subject], it’s all very flattering,” he said. “It’s nice to be mentioned – for any role – and I’m just not really going to add to the noise.
“It’s very nice, and Gary’s a sweetheart – it’s particularly lovely, coming from someone like him. But I don’t really listen to it.”
Jack added: “As a young male actor, generally, the minute you’re not playing a zany artist type, the minute you’re in a suit, people fling it at you.”

Way back in 2022, during a joint interview with Sir Gary Oldman to promote Slow Horses, the Oscar winner teased Jack about speculation that was then going around with regards to him playing 007.
At the time, Jack responded by telling AP that while it was “lovely” to even be thought of as a potential fit for James Bond, he wasn’t sure how valid the claims actually were.
“I think everybody who runs around with a serious face – and runs well – [is named in the press as a rumoured James Bond],” he insisted.
The Scottish actor has had a huge 2026, which has included landing at the centre of one of Slow Horses’ biggest cliffhangers ever and playing Mr Darcy in Netflix’s upcoming adaptation of Pride And Prejudice.
