PointBridge, a general underwriter (MGU) specializing in professional liability insurance, has launched a new recognition physician malpractice program in partnership with reinsurer/insurer Aspen.

The new professional liability plan for physicians and surgeons, offering modern and competitively priced coverage, is scheduled to launch nationwide on January 1, 2026.

According to the announcement, initial market rollout will begin in selected states on that day, with deployment expanding to 15 target states by the end of the first quarter of 2026.

“We are excited to partner with Aspen to bring a new approach to physician professional liability insurance,” said Philip Cabaud, CEO of PointBridge. “This program combines the financial strength and stability of a strong international carrier with cutting-edge AI-assisted underwriting technology to provide physicians and their practices with faster turnaround times, more accurate risk assessments and competitive pricing.”

The new admissions program offers medical professionals several key advantages: financial strength, backed by Aspen’s AM Best A rating and global recognition; and modern admissions forms with current coverage language appropriate for today’s medical practices.
It also provides advanced underwriting through artificial intelligence-assisted technology, ensuring faster and more accurate risk assessment and underwriting review; in addition to competitive pricing, technology-driven efficiencies also lead to more competitive premiums.

The program will apply to licensed physicians and surgeons, as well as professional corporations and practice entities to which covered physicians belong.

Initial launch states include Arizona, California, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, Michigan, Nevada, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Texas and Wisconsin.
