Japanese reinsurance group East Asia Reinsurance Company (Toa Re) has announced a series of leadership changes at its Japan and Singapore branches, including the appointment of Ryo Yokochi as CEO of its Singapore branch, effective June 26, 2026.
Yokochi succeeds Shiko Misono, currently CEO of the Singapore branch, who will serve as general manager of the international division. Yokochi’s current position is Team Manager, Department 1, Non-Life Underwriting and Planning.
Toa Re has announced changes to managing director and director positions, effective June 26, 2026, which include the appointment of Masahiro Yamada, currently a director and general manager of the non-life underwriting and planning division, as managing director.
Mr. Ichichichi, currently the general manager of the life insurance underwriting department, was appointed as the director and general manager of the life insurance underwriting department.
Hironobu Kawahara, currently the general manager of the Communication and Coordination Department and the senior manager of the Business Planning Department, will serve as the director and general manager of the Communication and Coordination Department and the senior manager of the Business Planning Department.
The newly appointed Shingo Kawaguchi will serve as an outside director.
Hironori Ashikawa (Managing Director), Kozo Nakamura (Director) and Yasunobu Fukuda (External Director) will all step down.
In addition, East Asia Re also announced the appointment of general managers. Among them, Tomoyasu Ohta, the current reinsurance pool hull cargo group manager, was appointed as the general manager of the internal audit department.
Tetsuji Maruyama, Senior Manager and First Team Manager of the Communication and Coordination Department, will serve as General Manager of the Compliance Department.
Aya Fujita, currently senior manager of the business development department, was appointed general manager of the digital transformation department.
Masayuki Matsumoto, general manager of the International Department, has been appointed as the first general manager of the non-life insurance underwriting and planning department.
Yoshimitsu Mizui, general manager of the internal audit department, will also serve as general manager of the strategic business development department.
East Asia Re also announced organizational changes, including the establishment of a Strategic Business Development Department and the renaming of the Business Development Department to the Digital Transformation Department.
