MS Amlin adds Kirsten Mitchell-Wallace as CRO and Phil Young as CIO

Lloyd’s global reinsurer MS Amlin has appointed Kirsten Mitchell-Wallace as chief risk officer (CRO) and Phil Young as chief information officer (CIO), pending regulatory approval.

The pair will join the reinsurer’s executive leadership team and report to MS Amlin CEO Christiern Dart.

Dart commented on the appointments: “I am delighted that Kirsten and Phil will be joining Ms. Amlin and my executive leadership team.

“They are both accomplished leaders in their fields and their experience will provide tremendous support and leadership as our business enters its next phase of growth and development.

“Kirsten’s outstanding venture credentials and Phil’s track record in technology, data and innovation will be invaluable as we continue to strengthen the business and invest in our continued success.”

Mitchell-Wallace takes over the new role from Vishal Desai, who will take up a new role at parent company MSIG as international chief risk officer and become a member of the new international executive committee. She will take over his responsibilities after the formal handover.

Mitchell-Wallace has extensive market and board-level risk experience, having previously held senior roles at OAK Global, Lloyd’s of London and SCOR. Her expertise spans risk appetite, capital and risk management, and regulatory engagement.

Mitchell-Wallace added: “I am delighted to be joining MS Amlin at such an important time in its history. It is a strong and ambitious business and I look forward to working with colleagues across the company to support its continued growth and development.”

Young will assume the role of chief information officer in the third quarter of 2026. He has extensive technology and transformation expertise, having successfully led large-scale platform, data and digital transformation projects in senior roles at Virgin Group, Amazon Web Services and Transport for London.
