Liberty Specialty Markets (LSM), part of Liberty Mutual Insurance Group, has launched two new divisions in Italy: Energy & Construction and Networks to meet growing regional demand.
The launch of these products is supported by the appointment of two senior underwriters in Milan to manage the new division, expand LSM’s product range in Italy and facilitate cross-selling between business lines.
Senior underwriter Alessandro Tomassi is responsible for establishing the Energy and Construction division in Italy, which will provide specialist products and services to the energy industries of oil and gas, petrochemicals, power generation and renewable energy, as well as a wide range of construction projects and annual contractor programmes.
Tomasi’s appointment leverages his nearly 18 years of experience underwriting energy and construction businesses at Allianz.
The executive will report to Antonio Sacchi, general manager for Italy, Sean Pearson, European business manager and regional product leader for construction, and Didier Robin, energy business manager for Europe.
Mauro Marongiu has joined LSM as a senior underwriter responsible for developing and managing the cyber division, which provides a full suite of cyber solutions that protect businesses from a range of non-physical risks, including cyber hazards and technical and media errors and omissions.
Marongiu has held cyber underwriting positions at MGA for seven years, most recently at RiskPoint, and has six years of experience as a cyber specialist in Italy. In his new role, he will report to Sacchi and Oliver Delvos, European Network and Technology Directors.
Sacchi commented: “The establishment of the Energy, Construction and Networks division in Italy marks an important milestone in the development of our activities in this strategic market.
“This local presence will allow us to strengthen our ties with our customers and partners and support their complex projects more effectively. Alessandro and Mauro’s strong local expertise will help develop our capabilities to build our energy, construction and network businesses in the Italian market.”
LSM is strengthening its commitment to Europe, particularly Italy, with the launch of its Energy & Building and Cyber insurance businesses.
This expansion, coupled with the two local appointments, supports Liberty’s Invest in Europe 2030 long-term ambition to become a reliable partner for insureds and collaborators across the continent.
LSM already has an extensive presence in Italy, with more than 50 employees in offices in Milan and Rome.
