Liberty Specialty Markets announces risk engineering appointments

Liberty Specialty Markets (LSM), part of Liberty Mutual Insurance Group, has announced a series of risk engineering appointments across the energy, power and construction sectors in the UK and MENA region.

Richard Mundy has been appointed principal risk engineer for energy. Based in London, he will be responsible for managing an expanding global client portfolio in the energy sector, with a focus on complex upstream, downstream and building energy risks, while driving strategic portfolio growth in the UK and MENA regions.

He will report directly to Paddy Lisulo, Risk Engineering Manager UK and MENA at Liberty Specialty Markets.

Mundy joins LSM from bp where he served as principal process and process safety engineer. Prior to that, he spent six years at Starr Corporation, most recently as a senior risk engineer.

Taz Chowdhury has been appointed Power Risk Engineer and will also be based in London and report to Lisulo. In this role, he will support the electricity business in the UK and MENA region, conducting risk assessments, risk engineering investigations and providing claims technical input.

Chowdhury has nearly seven years of industry engineering experience in the UK, MENA, Asia Pacific and Europe. Most recently, he served as Senior Plant Equipment Engineer for Rolls-Royce Small Modular Nuclear Reactors.

LSM has also appointed Sam McLachlan as construction risk engineer. Based in Dubai, McLachlan will provide technical risk engineering support to the MENA construction team, with his hands-on delivery experience on complex international construction projects helping to support profitable underwriting of the MENA construction portfolio.

He will report to Sean Pearson, underwriting manager and regional product leader for construction.

McLachlan has 12 years of industry experience in the infrastructure, energy, transport, nuclear and commercial sectors. Prior to joining LSM, he worked as a construction risk engineer at Zurich Insurance.
