Glen Riddell succeeds James Beedle as SRA Chair

The Singapore Reinsurers Association (SRA) has announced its new leadership team following its recent executive committee meeting, which includes the appointment of Glen Riddell as chairman, succeeding James Beedle.

Established in 1979, the SRA is an industry trade association representing financial institutions licensed by the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) to conduct reinsurance business in Singapore.

Beedle is retiring after 36 years in the reinsurance industry as a broker and risk taker in London, Sydney, Tokyo and Singapore.

The SRA said in a recent LinkedIn post: “As we welcome our new leadership team, we would also like to extend our sincere thanks to James Beedle for his outstanding contribution to the SRA and the wider reinsurance community.

“James has served on the SRA Executive Committee for a number of years and played a key role in advancing the association’s education programme. As convener of the Education Sub-Committee from 2017 to 2024, he championed talent development and professional learning across the sector. He subsequently served as Vice-Chair from 2024 to 2026 and as Chairman in 2026.”

Riddell currently serves as CEO of Berkley Re Asia Pacific, leading Berkley Re Asia and Berkley Re Australia.

He joined Berkley Re in 2015 and is based in Singapore, relocating to Sydney in 2021. Prior to this, he spent three years as head of treaty brokerage at Willis Re Australia and held various senior positions at Gen Re for 16 years.

The SRA has also appointed Emma Loynes as deputy chair. She brings more than thirty years of industry experience to the position.

Loynes has been working in the specialist Lloyd’s market for the past eight years and is currently CEO of Lloyd’s Asia and country manager for Singapore.

Prior to this, she spent 22 years at RSA (now Intact Insurance), most recently as regional operations director for the UK at RSA Commercial.

Michael Hauer has been appointed Honorary Secretary. He has over 30 years of reinsurance experience, with a particular focus on the diverse markets of Southeast Asia.

Hall is currently managing director of Munich Re Singapore and head of non-life insurance in Southeast Asia. During his career at Munich Re, he held several senior leadership positions, including Head of Marine Reinsurance Asia Pacific, Singapore, and CEO of Munich Re Korea.

Additionally, Mukul Kishore has been appointed as Honorary Treasurer. He currently serves as CEO of SCOR Reinsurance Asia Pacific and Head of P&C Asia Pacific. Previously, he served as Chief Underwriting Officer before being appointed CEO of SCOR India.
