AXA XL, the property, casualty and professional risks division of AXA Group, has announced leadership changes affecting its business in Austria and the Central and South-Eastern Europe (CSEE) region.
The company has been operating in Austria and the CSEE region for almost 30 years and considers the region to be of increasing strategic and economic importance. AXA XL said it will continue to strengthen its local expertise and capabilities to support its customers’ evolving needs.
AXA XL announces the appointment of Simon Schäfer as Area Manager Austria and CSEE, subject to regulatory approval. Based in Vienna, Schäfer leads the company’s insurance business in Austria and the wider CSEE region.
Schäfer most recently served as Head of Risk Consulting for Northern Europe, where he oversaw the firm’s risk consulting activities in the region. The company said he brings extensive leadership experience and a strong background working with clients and brokers. Since joining AXA Group in 2015 and AXA XL in 2020, Schäfer has held various senior positions in finance, transformation and risk consulting.
Meanwhile, AXA XL announced that Eduard Billovits will take on the role of Head of Distribution and CSEE in Austria. Billovits has held a range of management positions within the organization for nearly three decades and will continue to support customers while focusing on the development of the company’s distribution activities in the region.
Schäfer and Billovits will work together to support the development of insurance solutions for customers, contribute to growth and resilience in the markets in which the company operates, and further strengthen AXA XL’s presence in Austria and the CSEE region.
