Aon, a global insurance and reinsurance broker and risk advisor, has launched a new insurance solution, Global Onshore Renewables Facility, which combines dedicated insurer capacity for onshore wind, solar photovoltaic and battery storage projects valued up to $300 million.
The solution has been designed to help developers, owners, and contractors manage risk and access capital more efficiently.
The launch responds to the rising investment in renewable energy infrastructure, as the facility provides streamlined insurance coverage for projects to support clients throughout their project lifecycle, from construction through operations.
The facility includes policy limits of up to $300 million per location, and coverage spans the construction and operational phases, with access to dedicated renewable energy insurer capacity, and simplified access to coverage across multiple markets.
Developed by Aon’s Global Broking Centre in London, the new facility aims to address challenges in the market through a coordinated and scalable solution that simplifies insurance placement and improves access to capacity for clients.
Aon emphasis that global energy transition investment is projected to reach an all-time high of USD 2.2 trillion in 2026, as part of a record USD 3.4 trillion in total energy investment globally. However, smaller and mid-sized renewable projects have historically struggled to access consistent, cost-effective insurance capacity, which is what this new solutions aims to address.
