Netflix has confirmed the fate of the rom-com series Nobody Wants This.
The third season of the Emmy-nominated comedy premiered towards the end of last month, with critics mostly hailing it as an improvement on the show’s previous run.
Since then, fans have been speculating about whether a fourth season could be on the cards, with Netflix finally issuing a statement on Friday afternoon.

Netflix’s vice president of comedy series has confirmed the show will be back for a fourth outing, enthusing: “Great love stories never go out of style, and Nobody Wants This has become a true cultural phenomenon.
“This incredible creative team has built a show that grows with its audience, and our members around the world have embraced it season after season. We cannot be more excited for season four.”
According to Netflix, the new season will pick up after the dramatic events of the season three finale, in which central couple Joanne and Noah – played by Kristen Bell and Adam Brody – quietly got married after the former’s conversion to Judaism was complete.
Screenwriter Erin Foster – who created Nobody Wants This, partly inspired by her own experiences of converting to Judaism before marrying her husband – told Parade last month that she feels there’s “more story to tell” after the dramatic twists in the season three finale.
Looking ahead to what a fourth season could be about, she said: “There’s those next steps as people who are not in their 20s, getting married and you’re starting off already kind of behind everyone else.
“I experienced that when I got married, I was 37, and it’s a different experience. So, yeah, I do think that there’s more story to tell.”
She added: “But I’m also someone who doesn’t get too attached to the outcome and is sort of fluid about allowing sort of the market to tell us what they want from us. I never want to have a show that goes on longer than people want to see it. I’d rather people want more than want less.”
Elsewhere in the interview, Erin said that she and the Nobody Wants This creative team “look at every season as giving it an ending that would serve as a great series finale” as well as a “season finale”.
“You could end any of the three seasons and feel like it was a complete rom-com,” she claimed. “And you could also look at it and think there’s a lot more story to tell. So you want to go out with a bang. You want to give a big moment for the finale.”
