Amwins, a distributor of specialty insurance products and services, has launched illumin Specialty, a managing general agency (MGA) offering primary general liability and excess liability coverage.
Led by industry veteran Rebecca Gitig, illumin Specialty will reportedly focus on developing practical coverage solutions for challenging exposures across segments where market dislocation and technical complexity can make placements more difficult.
“Distributed exclusively through wholesale brokers, this addition expands Amwins Underwriting’s in-house specialty casualty capabilities and reinforces its commitment to the E&S primary market,” Amwins explained.
The firm added that the illumin Specialty team will work directly with wholesale brokers to provide non-admitted solutions for their clients’ most complex risks. The MGA expects to finalise capacity and begin accepting new business in the fourth quarter.
Joining Gitig are Randy Villanueva, senior vice president, and Meredith McLelland, senior vice president, both of whom bring experience underwriting casualty solutions across a broad range of industry classes.
