London-based independent international general agent (MGA) Amiga Specialty has announced the appointment of David Filtness as Managing Director of Professional Indemnity.

In his new role, Filtness will lead the development of the Amiga Professional Indemnity proposition, following its launch earlier this year, further strengthening Professional MGA’s financial product line offering.

The Amiga Specialty has shown strong momentum since entering the market in the summer of 2025. This success is driven by the company’s highly qualified underwriting talent, rigorous trading strategies and strong support from committed capacity partners.

Adam Kembrooke, founder and managing director of Amiga Specialty, commented: “Professional indemnity is a core pillar of our strategy, so we are delighted to welcome David to Amiga. His extensive experience and position in the PI market is outstanding.

“David brings a rare combination of technical underwriting expertise, business acumen and trusted broker and insurance company relationships. He will play a key role in building a high-quality, sustainable PI portfolio as we continue to execute on our growth plans.”

Filtness joins Amiga from Chubb UK and Ireland where she was Head of Professional Indemnity. Prior to this, he held senior PI underwriting roles at Arch Insurance and held various roles specializing in professional indemnity at Towergate Underwriting, Gallagher and Aon.

Commenting on his appointment, Filtness said: “After 25 years working in the PI market across brokers, insurers and MGAs, Amiga stands out as a truly compelling opportunity. It provides the opportunity to build a PI proposition that works for brokers, capacity providers and clients alike. Amiga’s approach is closely aligned with how I see PI trading: relationship-led, consistent, responsive and underpinned by rigorous underwriting.”

He added: “With a strong platform, committed investment and an exceptional team, Amiga is well-positioned to deliver on the market’s expectations of a modern MGA. My focus is clear – building profitable, sustainable books for capacity partners, delivering high-quality support to brokers, and delivering strong, reliable products to clients.”

The appointment follows Amiga’s recent announcement of multi-million capacity acquisitions through the Accelerant Risk Exchange, which represents the latest step in the company’s strategic growth.

Since its inception, Amiga Specialty has grown its team with the appointment of a number of senior market leaders, including Martin Mills as non-executive chairman; James Rasmussen as managing director, UK and European Management Responsibility; Jamie Ricketts as managing director, DOFI; Richard Mills as managing director, transaction risk; and Ralph Sherbahn as managing director, Financial Lines, Asia Pacific.

Kembrooke added: “It is extremely encouraging when talented, respected individuals choose to join Amiga. The capabilities of the team we are building enable us to remain relentlessly focused on service excellence and professional, profitable underwriting.”
