Africa Specialty Risks (ASR), the developing markets-focused reinsurance group, has announced the appointments of Keith Barrett and Yassine Asskour to underwriting roles.
Barrett joins the company as marine underwriter and will be based in London, reporting to Aurelien Sauty, head of aviation and marine.
He has over 40 years of experience in the African insurance market, having held senior underwriting positions at Swiss Re Africa and Mutual & Federal, where he oversaw maritime portfolios across multiple African markets.
ASR has also expanded its underwriting team in Casablanca, appointing Asskour as real estate underwriter. In this role, he will report to Joseph C., Senior Underwriter.
Asskour has over eight years of underwriting experience in Morocco and the wider African reinsurance market. Prior to joining ASR, he served as senior part-time reinsurance underwriter for non-life African markets at Atlantic Re. He has also held roles at AXA and Sanlam Maroc.
ASR said that as the company continues to grow through specialty insurance solutions in Africa and other developing markets, the combined experience and technical expertise of Barrett and Asskour will support its continued growth and commitment to local markets.
