Willis Re hires David Kim as reinsurance broker

Willis Re, the reinsurance advisory and brokerage joint venture between Bain Capital (BCIS) and WTW, has announced the appointment of David Kim as a new reinsurance broker to strengthen its maritime and non-maritime reinsurance capabilities.

Kim joins the company with 20 years of experience in the marine and non-marine reinsurance markets.

He most recently served as Director of Marine Reinsurance at WTW company Willis, where he established new business across multiple business lines. Prior to this, Willis Re noted that he served as CEO and Chief Representative of Korean Re’s London entity and representative office, responsible for the investment portfolio of Lloyd’s Fund (FAL).

Earlier in his career, he worked as an underwriter specializing in marine and energy treaties and interim business, covering Korean and international risks.

Willis Re also highlighted Kim’s industry involvement, noting that he served as a council member representing South Korea from 2020 to 2023 and as a committee member of the International Union of Marine Insurance (IUMI) Ocean Hull Committee (OHC).

Commenting on the appointment, Willis Re board member Lucy Clarke said: “We are delighted to welcome David to Willis Re.
