Swiss-based global reinsurer MS Reinsurance revealed that 2025 was another strong year for the company, with net profit after tax reaching US$415 million, up from US$346 million in 2024.

MSI, a core part of Japanese insurance giant MS&AD Group, said the strong net profit figure to 2025 was driven by strong positive contributions from underwriting and investments, said MS Re, a wholly-owned subsidiary of MSI.

The company’s total written premiums for the year increased to $3.9 billion from $3.6 billion a year earlier, which is reportedly in line with its growth plans and strategy to continue building a diversified and balanced portfolio.

Meanwhile, Microsoft Re’s combined ratio improved to 87.4% in 2025 from 88.7% in 2024, primarily due to benign loss experience in the short-tail category and favorable discounting effects.

As mentioned above, the company also disclosed strong investment performance through 2025, with a return on investment of $307 million and a return on investment of 4.7%, despite continued volatility in financial markets.

Robert Wiest, CEO of MS Re, commented: “2025 was an excellent year for the company, as we achieved a significant increase in net profit to $415 million based on excellent underwriting and investment results. This is the third consecutive year that we have delivered profits to shareholders.”

“We have achieved this success because we have a clear goal: to create a company that is a stable, reliable and valuable partner to our customers throughout their lifecycle. Every decision we make strategically, culturally and organizationally is guided by this ambition.

“Microsoft Re is fundamentally different today than it was four years ago. We are deliberately reducing risk and rebalancing our portfolio, strengthening governance across the organization, and reimagining how we operate across functions and geographies.

“We have defined who we are and what we stand for, and have developed a clear strategy and value proposition that are rooted in deep customer understanding, ease of working with, and efficient delivery of value.

“Reinsurance is cyclical in nature, which makes consistency both difficult and important. Our strategies are designed to remain in place throughout the cycle, not just when conditions are favorable.”
