The latest season of Celebrity Traitors had the whole nation gripped to our TVs every Wednesday and Thursday night, as stars from across the world of film, telly, comedy and more came together to suss out who among them was hiding a murderous secret.
From shocking roundtable discussions to exciting missions, hilarious dance routines and Richard E Grant telling everyone he was a Traitor about five minutes after being chosen as one, the action-packed season of the BAFTA-winning reality show had it all.

In fact, with so much going on in the castle, there were plenty of twists and turns that didn’t even make it into the version of the show that millions of us tuned into.
With that in mind, here are some of the stand-out moments that went on behind the scenes but wound up being cut…
There was more to James Acaster’s dramatic exit than viewers got to see
One of season two’s most memorable moments came in the form of James Acaster’s dramatic round table exit.
James Blunt later revealed that this shocking and talked-about moment played out very differently in person.
“He didn’t fall on his sword. That’s what you saw, that’s what you feel, but he didn’t,” the singer insisted to the BBC.
The Brit Award winner revealed that a lie about Ross Kemp’s murder weapon was actually what led to the comedian’s unravelling, claiming: “[Viewers] didn’t see the full extent of the interrogation.
“It was heavy in there and it was clear-cut. He was pinned to a post. We got him. We really, really got him.”

The Grammy nominee stated: “I think how that played out hasn’t really been revealed to you, but he didn’t just say, ‘Oh guys, you got me’.”
“No matter what really went on in that castle, you’re a victim to the edit,” he concluded.
During an appearance on former winner Alan Carr’s podcast Life’s A Beach, the stand-up comic backed up the You’re Beautiful singer’s claims, confirming he “said a lot more around that round table than the edit would suggest”.
Jerry Hall accused James Acaster outright of being on the dark side long before the rest of the cast
Jerry Hall made quite an impact during her time in the Celebrity Traitors castle – although it was usually because of her slightly unhinged theories about the game.
But the model did make one correct prediction during her time on the show. Unfortunately, it just never made the final cut.
Speaking on Life’s A Beach, James Acaster told last season’s winner that Jerry clocked him long before anyone else did.

“They cut out [a scene where] Jerry Hall went right up to me face to face, this close, accused me of being a Traitor,” James recalled, revealing that she declared: “I think it’s James.”
It’s well-documented that the comedian never wanted to lie to the Faithfuls, so he told her back: “I think it might be me as well, Jerry.”
“You’re very sneaky,” she then responded, to which James claimed he agreed: “I am sneaky, and it could be me.”
“And then she was like, ‘Mmm’, and then went away,” he added. “I went, ‘Surely that’s going in the edit’. No! Nowhere to be seen!”
Leigh-Anne Pinnock had some cheeky parting words for the ‘boys’ club’ after she was banished from Celebrity Traitors

Little Mix star Leigh-Anne Pinnock made it all the way to the final of The Celebrity Traitors, earning the title as the last woman standing, before being shown the door by her all-male teammates.
On her way out, Leigh-Anne delivered some withering parting ways for the remaining stars, but sadly, producers chose not to include them in the episode.
In an interview with Harper’s Bazaar, the singer revealed: “When I got banished at the very end, I made a cheeky comment – ‘Well, enjoy the boys’ club’ – and walked off!”
She also opened up about one of her favourite moments in the castle that viewers didn’t get to see.
“On a lighter note, there was a moment in the kitchen where Rob [Beckett], Maya [Jama], and I were just throwing sweets into each other’s mouths,” Leigh admitted.
The Don’t Say Love singer insisted: “At the time, I had no idea Maya was a Traitor. You’re in such a serious environment at times so having those little pockets of fun were needed.”
James Blunt led the charge against banished Faithful Julie Hesmondhalgh because of comments that viewers weren’t made aware of
Julia Hesmondhalgh was banished after James Blunt led a charge against her.
On the show, it looked like James’ suspicions of the former Coronation Street actor mostly stemmed from the immunity badge given to her on the very first day of the series, which he thought may have had unknown powers.

James Acaster told The Times that, in reality, the British singer was working with a very specific piece of information which didn’t appear in the final edit.
“What actually happened is that when they did the shoulder tap for the Traitors’ pick at the beginning, James [Blunt] told Julie who he thought was acting suspiciously around the table,” he told the newspaper.
The Off Menu host – who was still a Faithful himself at that point – then explained how he had spoken to Julie not long after the Traitors were chosen, telling her that, at that stage of the game, the Traitors wouldn’t want to start sharing theories that could incriminate an ally.
Because of this, he suggested that they should take note of who was not being forthcoming.
“Then Julie went into the room where James [Blunt] was, puts this to everyone, and says, ‘Like you, James. You’re not sharing your theories with anyone’,” he recalled. “And James is thinking, ‘Well that’s not true, because I just shared mine with you at the table’.”
At the round table, James Blunt pointed to this as evidence that the ex-soap actor had been lying in the competition, although these details weren’t included in the eventual episode.
Sebastian Croft took ill as a result of one of The Celebrity Traitors’ more testing challenges

Sebastian “Bash” Croft may have won the show, but it wasn’t all smooth sailing to get there.
On his podcast, The Sunday Scaries, Bash revealed that he collapsed and needed medical attention during one of the show’s more demanding challenges, which saw the cast digging up graves.
The Heartstopper star recalled: “I got to the end and felt really lightheaded and fainted,” he described the moment, which did not make it to air.”
He added: “Then I was sat there, and there was the medic, giving me water, and I was eating chocolate to get my blood sugar up. And I look up, and there’s, like, Jerry [Hall] and Richard [E Grant] looking at me like, ‘you’re pathetic, this is so embarrassing’.”
He added that he was grateful to the production team for not including this incident in the final edit, saying they did him a “favour”.
Sebastian Croft has also claimed that he clocked the in-plain-sight murder as it was happening
Speaking on Sunday Scaries, Sebastian revealed that he knew something was awry the night of Ross Kemp’s murder, despite being in a different room at the time.
While sitting with Michael Sheen, watching Miranda Hart and Leigh-Anne Pinnock’s Big Mix routine, he noticed something was off.
“That evening was a crazy one,” he explained. “Firstly, you don’t often have that much time post-round table. Like, you have a few drinks and then it’s time. The bongs start happening, and then everyone goes.
“I was feeling really low [after Joe Lycett’s banishment] and so I was really counting the clock. I was like, ‘I just need to go and probably cry and have my little moment…’ And I’m like, ‘This has really been going on for a while’.”

In a scene that did not make the final cut, aired on the BBC, the actor revealed that he told Michael Sheen that “there’s been an in-plain-sight murder”, based on his suspicions about how long the group were being kept in the castle.
He now believes this comment helped him make the finale, as it sealed his status as a true faithful.
“That was actually a piece of information which I think is why I didn’t get a lot of heat towards the end,” Sebastian theorised, following his triumphant win. “Michael was interrogating everyone. I don’t think he really interrogated me, because he was like, ‘No Traitor would point out that they thought an in-plain-sight murder was happening’.”
Maya Jama and Joanne McNally had plenty of secret off-screen gossip sessions
Maya Jama has revealed on social media that drinks in the Celebrity Traitors castle weren’t necessarily distributed evenly.
While the final edit often showed the celebs bonding over a drink or two at the bar after a round table session, the Love Island host revealed that she and Joanne McNally often helped themselves to more than the others.
Posting an Instagram Story showing herself and the Irish comedian on the show, Maya captioned the post: “Fun fact, about halfway through, everyone stopped having their one drink a night so they could focus, and we sneakily drank theirs.”
“Cling cling!” she joked.

Maya also revealed that she and Joanne were even closer than Celebrity Traitors had us believe.
“Most of our time together wasn’t included because we spoke about everything other than the game, and hid in the toilets telling secrets,” she added.
Sharon Rooney would go on private walks in the Celebrity Traitors castle in the hope of finding a shield
Two Doors Down actor Sharon Rooney has admitted that she made use of her alone time while on The Celebrity Traitors, as she often needed space to “decompress” amid the stress of filming.
“I would go on my daily walks around the castle on my own to just decompress a little and have a wee look in little secret hidey holes,” she shared with the BBC.
The actor added: “I enjoyed every single minute of those quiet times!”
Although none of these moments was aired, Sharon explained that she would often hunt for hidden places in the hopes of finding treasure during these wals.
“I would speak into my mic and say ‘I will be going on a walk later, and I hope you’ve left something in my hidey hole’ but they never ever did,” she explained. “I always thought I’d find a wee secret shield or something and I’m still a bit annoyed that I didn’t.”

The Barbie performer hinted that while she may not have found a shield, she found other things of intrigue on her walks, claiming: “Things happened on those wanders and I cannot wait to find out if I was right about them.”
James Blunt was outspoken for a reason – but it might not be the one you are thinking of
When he entered the castle, James Blunt initially wanted to fly under the radar in the hopes of being murdered early on.
“We all get paid the same, whether you’re there for day one or day 23,” he told the BBC, pointing out that “for most of the time, I was trying to… get the hell out of dodge”.
Of course, if you’ve seen the series, you’ll know that’s not exactly how things played out for him, as in the end, the Goodbye My Lover singer was very vocal throughout, reasoning that keeping schtum was making his time on the show “boring”.
BBC/Studio Lambert/Euan Cherry
In fact, he was even more outspoken in the castle than we got to see, noting that many of his theories didn’t make the final cut.
“For me, I just thought, ‘Let’s just go around and come up with theories’,” he told the BBC. “You don’t see it in the edit, but I was telling everyone, ‘It doesn’t matter [who goes], just kill them all!’
