In May, we partnered with global reinsurer Swiss Re to host the second Heritage Market Roundtable in Brighton, held in conjunction with the Heritage Re/Insurance Market Annual Conference. The event brought together 13 leaders and experts from across the retrospective ecosystem to examine the market in transition.
In partnership with Swiss Re, the 2026 Reinsurance News Brighton Heritage Market Roundtable report is now available for free download.
During the 90-minute session, buyers, sellers, brokers, consulting and legal experts explored the impact of hard and soft market cycles and M&A on legacy dynamics, as well as execution and data quality challenges.
As roundtable participants reflected on the role legacy plays in their organizations and its place among strategic priorities, it is clear that there is still a need for increased awareness and education about legacy solutions.
Partnerships, syndication and wider collaboration also emerged as key themes, with participants considering real-time market approaches while recognizing traditional unique selling points.
The discussion also explored what could drive the next wave of activity. Attendees identified forward exit solutions, MGAs and M&A as key catalysts for future growth, while emphasizing that success will depend on the market’s ability to remain adaptable and offer a wider range of solutions.
The overall mood is positive. Attendees expressed confidence in the current state of the legacy industry and its long-term trajectory, while recognizing that continued investment in education, collaboration and effective execution will be critical as the market continues to evolve.
