Radian Group Inc., a US financial services company operating in mortgage insurance and specialty insurance, has announced several changes to its executive leadership team.
The appointments are intended to strengthen oversight across its businesses, advance strategic priorities and support sustainable expansion while maintaining a disciplined approach to risk and capital management.
Dan Kobell has been appointed Chief Financial Officer, reporting directly to Radian Chief Executive Officer Mike Weinbach. Kobell joined Radian in 2015 and has since taken on a succession of senior finance roles. He has served as Interim Chief Financial Officer since February 2026.
In his permanent position, he will oversee the group’s financial planning and operations, with responsibilities including capital deployment, risk oversight and preserving the company’s financial resilience and flexibility. Kobell will also work alongside the executive team to ensure investment decisions align with its strategic objectives, support sustainable business development and deliver long-term returns for shareholders.
Radian has also appointed Courtney Smith Goodrich as Chief Information Officer. Reporting to Weinbach, she will be responsible for the group’s technology direction, covering systems upgrades, data capabilities and analytics.
The company expects her work to strengthen its use of information, improve the speed of decision-making and support service delivery for customers. Smith Goodrich joins Radian from Fannie Mae, where she held the position of Chief Strategy & Transformation Officer and was responsible for organisation-wide transformation programmes. Her previous experience includes senior executive roles at Wells Fargo and JPMorgan Chase.
Russell Merrett, who helped establish specialty insurance subsidiary Inigo and currently serves as its Chief Underwriting Officer, will move into a newly established role overseeing property and casualty (P&C) strategy across Radian Group.
In this position, he will report to Weinbach and evaluate potential business opportunities against the group’s current portfolio and long-term objectives. His role will include considering entry into new markets, developing partnerships and identifying other ways to expand its insurance and reinsurance operations while maintaining a focus on profitable growth.
As part of the leadership changes at Inigo, Craig Knightley has been promoted to Chief Underwriting Officer, subject to regulatory approval. He will take over from Merrett and lead underwriting activities across Inigo’s insurance, reinsurance and partnership businesses.
Knightley has been with the specialty insurer since its establishment, contributing to its development and originating the Horizon and Inform programmes. These initiatives reflect Inigo’s approach to serving the specialist insurance market. He will report to Inigo Chief Executive Officer Richard Watson.
Stuart Bridges, another founding member of Inigo and its outgoing Chief Financial Officer, will assume the position of Radian Group Advisor. Bridges will use his knowledge of the property and casualty insurance sector and his industry contacts to develop relationships with business partners and other market participants. This will include investors focused on P&C insurance, with the aim of increasing awareness and understanding of Radian’s strategy and its position in the sector.
Radian confirmed that the changes will sit alongside its existing leadership arrangements. Meghan Bartholomew and Steve Keleher will continue as Co-Heads of Radian Guaranty, the group’s mortgage insurance subsidiary, while Watson will remain Chief Executive Officer of Inigo.
“Radian has a leading mortgage insurance business, a differentiated specialty insurance platform, a strong capital position, and a deep and talented team,” added Weinbach.
“These appointments build on that depth, expanding our leadership team with a balance of financial, technology, and underwriting expertise to support executing our strategy and next phase of growth. We see real opportunity ahead and will pursue it with the same risk and capital discipline that underpins our financial strength and creates long-term stockholder value.”
