Global life reinsurer Pacific Life Re has announced the appointment of Mei Sum Chan as Head of Medical Analytics.
Sum Chan succeeds Ian Collins, who retires following more than 15 years at Pacific Life Re. During Collins’ tenure, he held various roles, culminating in setting up and leading Medical Analytics.
Pacific Life Re noted that Medical Analytics plays an important role in helping it understand emerging health and mortality trends, supporting assumption development and delivering data-driven insights for its business and clients.
Sum Chan brings experience across insurance, life sciences and academic research. She serves as a Health Forum UK representative for the International Actuarial Association and is Chair of the Health and Care Research Sub-committee and a member of the H&C Board at the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries.
Most recently, she served as Director, R&D Specialist Team at Pacific Life Re, providing health and statistics advice and support both within R&D and across global divisions and products.
Previously, she was a Senior Consultant Statistician at LCP Health, where she was part of the health economics and outcomes research leadership team.
