Alpha TR Limited (Alpha), a new Lloyd’s coverholder specialty managing general agent (MGA) that can deploy £40 million of capital per risk, with capacity from AXA XL and Probitas (Aviva Syndicates), has been established to offer international transactional risk insurance solutions.

The MGA currently offers W&I, Tax, and Contingent insurance, and will focus on the private capital sector and has an international remit excluding the USA or jurisdictions subject to sanctions.

It is also an appointed representative of Specialist Risk Group (SRG), a portfolio company of Warburg Pincus and Temasek.

Managing Director Richard Taylor-Whiteway will lead Alpha’s management team, alongside Dave Luckett and Laurence Tarr, serving as Directors.

Alpha was originally set up by CBC UK Limited (CBC) and sold to SRG following the firm’s restructure.

Later, Alpha Risk Holdco Limited (Alpha Holdco), a company controlled by Taylor-Whiteway, acquired the firm on 15 September 2026. Electra Callan and Daniel Williams led the Mayer Brown team acting for Alpha Holdco.

Taylor-Whiteway commented, “The opportunity to work alongside two best-in-class transactional risk underwriters, with a significant line from blue-chip risk capital, and supported by SRG, is irresistible.

“We look forward to assisting our clients and broker partners with executing their transactions and delivering above-market results for our capacity providers.”

In a statement, the MGA said, “We aim to quote a small number of projects in order to maintain best-in-class project and
claims execution for our clients and broker partners. This modest project volume makes servicing each project very meaningful to us.

“Our underwriters have underwritten thousands of transactions and deployed £billions of risk capital. We can execute from the simple to the obscure, and everything in between. We offer a consistent, predictable counterparty and aim to provide a sophisticated service. In short: we get deals done.”
