MS Transverse, a hybrid frontloader that works with MGAs and project administrators across the United States, recently announced that Tom McGrath has joined the company as senior vice president and director of project underwriting.

McGrath will be responsible for directing project underwriting activities for MS Transverse’s MGA portfolio and project partners. Reporting to Chief Program Officer Ethan Allen, he will oversee underwriting execution, drive consistency across programs and provide experienced leadership to support rigorous underwriting practices, strong governance and continued platform expansion.

McGrath has more than 37 years of experience in the insurance and reinsurance markets, with an extensive background spanning underwriting, operations and project business construction and management.

He most recently served as Senior Vice President and Head of AIG’s U.S. Programs at AIG, where he oversaw a portfolio of 30 programs generating approximately $1 billion in annual gross written premiums. His responsibilities include portfolio growth, underwriting performance and overall program oversight.

Prior to joining AIG, McGrath held senior positions at Old Republic Specialty Insurance Underwriters and ACE Insurance Group (now Chubb). He also worked at Munich Re, where he managed a national project underwriting team and previously served as a reinsurance underwriter.

“Tom is a strong addition as we continue to expand our projects business,” commented MS Transverse CEO Dave Paulsson. “He brings a proven track record of managing a large project portfolio and deep operational experience. Tom knows how to deliver consistent underwriting results for MGAs, reinsurers and insureds, and this consistency is critical to the way we operate at MS Transverse.”

“I am delighted to be joining MS Transverse at such an exciting time in its development,” added McGrath. “The hybrid front-end model pioneered by MS Transverse creates real value for program managers and reinsurers alike. I look forward to working with Ethan and the team to strengthen our underwriting execution and deliver superior results for our partners.”
