Global investment firm KKR announced the appointment of Roy Gori, former President and CEO of Manulife, as a senior advisor.
Gori will advise KKR on strategic opportunities in the financial services and insurance sectors, with a focus on Asia Pacific and international markets. He will provide strategic advice on opportunities across insurance, wealth management, banking, distribution and related financial services platforms.
He will work closely with KKR’s senior leadership team and investment professionals, including Global Atlantic, KKR’s insurance business, to provide strategic insights into financial services market structure, regulatory environment, distribution models, partnerships and international opportunities.
Gori has more than three decades of leadership experience across insurance, wealth management and retail financial services in Asia Pacific, North America and other international markets.
He served as President and CEO of Manulife from 2017 until his retirement in 2025. Prior to that, he served as President and CEO of Manulife Asia.
Prior to joining Manulife, Gori spent 18 years at Citi, most recently as regional head of retail banking for Asia Pacific.
“We are pleased to welcome Roy to KKR as a senior advisor,” said KKR Co-Chief Executives Joe Bae and Scott Nuttall. “Roy is one of the most respected leaders in financial services, with decades of experience building and growing businesses in Asia Pacific and internationally. We look forward to working with him as we continue to expand our global platform.”
Billy Butcher and Manu Sareen, Co-CEOs of KKR’s insurance business, Global Atlantic, added: “Roy’s deep expertise in insurance, wealth management and distribution, combined with his extensive experience in Asia Pacific and globally, will provide KKR with valuable strategic perspective as it continues to expand its global financial services platform and pursue new partnerships and growth opportunities.”
“I am excited to join KKR at a time of tremendous opportunity for KKR in Asia Pacific and globally,” said Gori. “KKR has built a world-class global asset management platform and the company’s growing international reach illustrates the scale of the opportunities ahead. I look forward to working with KKR’s leadership and investment team to help identify and advance opportunities in global financial services, including insurance, wealth management, banking and distribution.”
