KatRisk appoints Eric Robinson as Vice President of Research and Development

KatRisk, a catastrophe risk modeling company providing analysis and insights to the insurance and reinsurance industry, has appointed Eric Robinson as its new vice president of research and development.

Robinson joins KatRisk with extensive experience in statistical modeling, data analysis, atmospheric science and disaster risk modeling. He has focused his career on developing and improving risk models to help insurance companies better understand natural catastrophe risks.

In his new role at KatRisk, Robinson will leverage more than a decade of experience in catastrophe modeling, insurance analysis and scientific research to support the company’s research and development activities.

Prior to joining KatRisk, Robinson spent more than five years at Aon, where she held senior positions in Aon’s Catastrophe Modeling Business Impact Forecasting group.

As Managing Director, he is responsible for the strategic direction of U.S. disaster modeling product research activities, including severe convective storm, earthquake, flood, storm surge, and tropical cyclone models.

Previously, as director, he led a global research team focused on severe convective storm and wildfire modeling while contributing to the development of modeling standards and research processes.

Prior to joining Aon, Robinson spent more than eight years at AIR Worldwide in a range of scientific and leadership roles, including chief scientist. While at AIR Worldwide, he contributed to the development of catastrophic risk models covering severe convective storm and extratropical cyclone risks in multiple regions including the United States, Canada, Europe and Australia.

Robinson’s background in catastrophe modeling, climate-related risks and research leadership will support the company’s continued focus on developing risk analytics solutions for the insurance industry.
