InnSure launches climate innovations incubator platform, Creation Labs

InnSure, a not-for-profit climate change-related insurance risk financing company, has launched Creation Labs, its flagship climate innovation incubation platform created in partnership with GreenieRE.

InnSure explained that Creation Labs is a launch and development platform that will facilitate the development of new climate risk management products and accelerate their time to market.

“By matching insurance innovators with communities, Creation Labs aims to close the climate-driven insurance coverage gap and facilitate the launch of new, scalable climate risk management programs and services that address the greatest climate challenges facing communities,” the company added.

The platform is supported by the New York State Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA), which previously awarded InnSure a $5 million grant to develop a project that serves as a precursor and pipeline for Creation Labs.

InnSure noted that its targeted Creation Labs program will provide differentiated support to entrepreneurs, innovation partners and communities, providing entrepreneurs with capital and expertise, partners with climate risk solutions and infrastructure, and communities with hands-on accelerator services and mentorship.

With this in mind, the company is currently looking for early to mid-stage growth companies with innovative risk transfer, technology and/or risk management data solutions focused on climate impact to join the second cohort of Creation Labs in Q1 2026.

Christopher Lowell, Managing Director at InnSure, commented: “Through Creation Labs, we are providing bold, forward-thinking companies with the necessary resources and networks to accelerate the deployment of affordable, scalable insurance solutions that address critical climate-related market gaps in the communities that need these solutions most.

“Communities across the country need solutions that not only address the growing impacts of extreme weather, but also enhance their long-term economic resiliency and support their transition to green energy.”
