Howden Asia appoints Alaric Lee and Alfred Sham to key leadership roles

Global insurance broker Howden has announced major leadership changes at Howden Asia, appointing Alaric Lee as CEO of Hong Kong and Alfred Sham as Chief Strategy Officer of Asia.

Lee currently serves as chief commercial officer for Asia and will assume his new role on July 1, 2026.

He has over a decade of market expertise and strong industry relationships in Hong Kong. Prior to joining Howden, he spent 15 years at Marsh, most recently as Managing Director Asia and Head of Asia Corporate and Commercial.

Sham has more than 20 years of industry experience in M&A, strategy and leadership in Asia.

He has been with Howden for the past 13 years and served as Hong Kong CEO for the past two years, during which time the office doubled in size. He will relocate to Singapore as chief strategy officer for Asia, taking on broader regional responsibilities.

In his new role, Sham will focus on advancing Howden’s growth objectives through new initiatives, new market expansion and strategic acquisitions.

Howden said the leadership change reflects the company’s commitment to developing internal talent and aligning leadership capabilities with strategic priorities across the Asia region.
