Henry To appointed Chairman of Howden Re Hong Kong

Global reinsurance broker Howden Re has announced the appointment of industry veteran Henry To as chairman of its Hong Kong operations, a move aimed at accelerating the company’s growth in Greater China and the wider Asia Pacific (APAC) region.

When he joined the company, Mr. To had more than four decades of reinsurance experience, including experience in the Hong Kong and China markets.

His expertise spans treaties and temporary placements in the property and casualty, maritime, casualty and health and agricultural sectors, and he has built a long-standing reputation for delivering strategic and innovative reinsurance solutions to clients in the region.

As Chairman, Du will work closely with Howden Re’s senior leadership team to grow the company’s regional capabilities and strengthen its presence in Hong Kong, a key gateway for the company’s expansion into Greater China.

Andy Souter, Head of Asia Pacific at Howden Re International, said: “Henry is one of the most experienced and respected figures in the Asia Pacific reinsurance market. We are very pleased to welcome him to Howden Re and look forward to his contribution to our clients and teams across the region.”

Massimo Reina, CEO of Howden Re International, added: “We have built strong momentum across Asia Pacific through continued investment in talent and local capabilities, including the launch and expansion of our Hong Kong platform.

“Our continued investment reflects Hong Kong’s importance as a gateway to markets in Greater China and the wider Asia Pacific region. Henry’s experience and expertise will be invaluable as we continue to strengthen Howden Re’s business and deliver greater value to clients across the region.”
