HDI Global, a commercial and industrial insurer within the HDI Group, has reported an 8% increase in insurance service result to EUR 465 million for the first half of 2026, compared to EUR 430 million in H1’25.
Alongside this, the insurer’s insurance revenue remained stable at EUR 5 billion in H1’26 due to currency effects and disciplined underwriting, compared to EUR 5.1 billion in H1’25.
HDI Global’s combined ratio improved to 90.7% in H1’26, compared to 91.6% in H1’25.
The insurer has attributed the growth and robust results to disciplined underwriting, lower large loss payments, and an increased investment result.
Large loss payments amounted to EUR 92 million, compared to EUR 142 million in H1’25, undershooting the pro rata budget for the period, which was recognised in full, by EUR 209 million, explained HDI.
The insurer also disclosed that despite natural catastrophe losses remaining below budget in H1’26, there were significant man-made losses that continued across all industries. Despite this, H1’26 net income rose by 7% to EUR 292 million, compared to EUR 274 million in H1’25.
For H1’26, net insurance financial and investment result before currency effects benefited from higher investment volumes and an increase in current interest income, climbing to EUR 169 million from EUR 99 million in H1’25.
Operating profit (EBIT) rose slightly to EUR 381 million for H1’26, compared to EUR 377 million in H1’25, while the division’s contribution to the overall group net income rose 7% to EUR 292 million, compared to EUR 274 million in H1’25.
