Global reinsurer Munich Re (Munich Re) has announced the appointment of Michael Correa as President and Chief Executive Officer of its Canadian (life) business, effective September 1, 2026.

The executive will succeed Bernard Naumann, who has been appointed to lead Munich Re’s Life & Health business in Europe and Latin America from January 1, 2027.

In his new role in Toronto, Correa will be responsible for the life business in Canada and the Caribbean, reporting to Management Committee member Mari-Lizette Malherbe.

Malherbe commented: “Mike’s appointment reflects both his proven track record of delivering profitable growth and the respect he has earned from clients and colleagues across the industry.

“Since joining Munich Re, he has played an important role in strengthening our position in the Canadian market and expanding into new areas of opportunity. I am confident that under his leadership, our life business in Canada and the Caribbean will continue to build on this momentum.”

She added: “At the same time, I would like to thank Bernard Naumann for his outstanding leadership and significant contribution to the group. His appointment to lead our Life & Health business in Europe and Latin America is a testament to the strength of our global leadership team.”

Correa, who currently serves as Munich Re’s senior vice president of Canadian (life) reinsurance solutions, added: “I am honored to take on this role and lead the Canadian (life) business at such an important time.

“Munich Re has established a strong foundation in this market and I look forward to working with our clients and teams to build on this momentum and continue to deliver innovative solutions, disciplined growth and long-term value.”
