Coface, a global provider of trade credit risk management, has appointed Zach Spencer as its new Head of Risk Underwriting for Asia Pacific, with the appointment taking effect on 1 October 2026.
Spencer is moving to Singapore as part of the appointment, where he will oversee Coface’s Risk Underwriting teams across the Asia Pacific region. He will report to Raphael Rousselot, Chief Underwriting Officer for Asia Pacific, while also reporting on a dotted-line basis to Anca Dan, Coface’s Group Head of Risk Underwriting.
In the role, Coface said Spencer will oversee the implementation of its underwriting policies and focus on developing the capabilities of its regional risk underwriting teams. His responsibilities will also include risk analysis, portfolio monitoring and operational performance. He will work alongside Coface’s commercial, claims and debt collection functions on the company’s activities across the region.
Spencer has more than 15 years’ experience in areas including risk underwriting, portfolio management, commercial lending, credit insurance and business transformation. He joined Coface Canada in 2020 and subsequently served as Vice President and Head of Risk Underwriting for Canada between 2021 and 2025.
During his time in that position, Coface said Spencer worked on developing the department’s commercial focus, as well as initiatives aimed at portfolio performance and client satisfaction. He most recently held the position of North America Head of Claims and Debt Collection, where, according to Coface, his work included standardising processes, improving collection performance and increasing operational efficiency.
Rousselot commented: “We are pleased to welcome Zach to Asia Pacific. His experience in risk underwriting and portfolio management, together with his understanding of Coface’s commercial and operational priorities, will be valuable as we strengthen our underwriting capabilities across the region. His leadership will help our teams deliver the risk insights and support businesses need to pursue growth with confidence.”
