Clear Group acquires Lloyd’s wholesale broker NPP

Clear Group, the independent insurance intermediary, has acquired Newman Pearce & Partners LLP (NPP), a specialist Lloyd’s wholesale broker, further strengthening its presence in the London Market and accelerating its wholesale growth strategy.

NPP is an independent Lloyd’s wholesale broker founded in 2019 by Gordon Newman, Neil Pearce and Colin Rogers. The business is headquartered in London and employs 24 people.

A provider of specialist broking services for retail brokers and coverholders seeking access to the Lloyd’s market, the business has established expertise across Global Specialty, International Liability, Construction, Offshore Marine Liability and Specialist Property.

Since its establishment, NPP has built a highly international business, with approximately 95% of its portfolio originating from overseas markets, with its core territories including Canada, Australia and the United States, alongside established distribution relationships across Türkiye, Africa and India.

The business has experienced strong growth, increasing revenue from approximately £5 million in FY25 to approximately £7 million in FY26, while gross written premium has grown from approximately £70 million to £120 million over the same period.

This growth was driven off the back of NPP’s very strong reputation, strong referral relationships, and targeting specialist hiring.

Internationally, NPP has expanded through the launch of Silverstar Insurance Intermediaries Ltd, a Canadian managing general agent (MGA) underwriting general and professional liability for the natural resources sector since September 2025.

For Clear, this acquisition represents a significant milestone in its strategy to grow the company’s London wholesale operations.

By building on its existing wholesale foundation through Lilley Plummer Risks Ltd (LPR), Clear enhances both its international footprint and specialist capabilities with the addition of NPP, entering key new regions such as Australia and Canada.

NPP’s areas of expertise are complementary to LPR’s existing portfolio, the firm highlighted, and do not create an internal overlap. As a result, the combined entity is able to create an expanded offering for retail brokers and coverholders.

Together, the businesses will enhance Clear’s ability to provide access to specialist Lloyd’s solutions across a wider range of sectors.

Neil Pearce, CEO and Co-Founder of NPP, added: “Since founding the business in 2019, we’ve focused on building a specialist Lloyd’s wholesale broker with strong technical expertise and international reach.

“Joining Clear represents an exciting next chapter, giving us access to additional resources while preserving the entrepreneurial culture and specialist focus that have underpinned our success. We look forward to working with our new colleagues to continue delivering exceptional service for our broker partners and clients.”

Dan Plummer, Managing Director of LPR, added: “It’s fantastic to welcome NPP into Clear’s London Markets pillar. NPP bring a highly complementary specialism and international reach that will open up new opportunities for both of our businesses, and for the brokers and coverholders we serve. We’re excited to join forces with the team and see what we can achieve together as part of the wider Group.”

According to the announcement, NPP will continue to operate from its London office working closely with Clear’s existing wholesale businesses while continuing to support its retail broker and coverholder partners.
