AXA XL, AXA’s property, casualty and professional risks division, has announced the appointment of Poonam Jivram as head of UK and Lloyd’s motor underwriting.
Based in London, Jivram is responsible for developing and executing strategic underwriting direction for Lloyds UK’s Fleet Insurance business, driving profitable growth and strengthening relationships with brokers and clients.
She will also play a key role in developing new products to meet the needs of the rapidly evolving automotive industry.
Jivram is an experienced insurance and risk consulting professional with expertise in working closely with regulators to support policy development, understand high-risk commercial fleet risks and develop telematics products.
She joined AXA XL in February 2024, most recently as Head of the Electrical Business Group (Risk Advisory).
Prior to that, she held roles as Head of Fleet Automotive Risk and Global Risk Management at Zego, where she built and managed a successful risk management business unit.
Ben Kinsella, head of risk management underwriting at AXA Vehicle sales are expected to exceed 40% in 2019. Wider adoption of electric vehicles, other alternative fuel vehicles and autonomous vehicles in commercial fleets is now inevitable, and it is more important and valuable than ever for insurance companies to not only understand this changing risk landscape, but also know how to manage it.
“Poonam’s understanding of the automotive market coupled with her expertise and experience in risk advisory make her an ideal candidate for this role. She is a great addition and will make a valuable contribution to the UK and Lloyd’s automotive teams, as well as the wider retail business.”
