AXA XL, AXA’s property, casualty and specialty risks division, has appointed Grace Xu as senior captive underwriter in its alternative risk solutions team.
Based in Los Angeles, California, she serves in this role as the company continues to strengthen its captive insurance and alternative risk capabilities.
Prior to Xu joining AXA XL, she worked for more than three years at Starr Insurance, most recently as an underwriter at Fronting, a captive reinsurance company in Los Angeles.
In this role, she evaluated complex risk, structured and priced reinsurance agreements across multiple industries and worked closely with captive managers, brokers and actuaries to develop alternative risk transfer solutions consistent with client regulatory, capital and long-term risk management objectives.
Prior to that, Xu was an associate underwriter at Starr Insurance, specializing in captive reinsurance and risk management. She also completed an internship with the company’s global operations technology team in Chicago, where she gained experience in client relationship management, professional indemnity insurance and operational processes.
In her new role, AXA XL has appointed Xu to support its Alternative Risk Solutions team, responsible for underwriting captive insurance plans and contributing to the company’s specialized alternative risk services to clients across a variety of industries.
