AXA XL, AXA’s property, casualty and special risks division, has appointed Matt Rodliff as chief claims officer, Americas, effective July 13, 2026, based in Boston.

Rodliff succeeds Jim DiVigilio, who elected to retire at the end of July. He will remain in an advisory role until the end of the year to support a smooth transition.

In his new role, Rodliff will lead AXA XL’s claims strategy and operations in the Americas. He will oversee the delivery of claims services to clients and brokers, drive technical excellence and work closely with the underwriting and risk teams to support AXA XL’s growth objectives.

He also reports to Lucy Pilko, CEO of AXA XL Americas, and Pam Urueta, Chief Administrative Officer and Global Chief Claims Officer of AXA XL.

Most recently, Rodliff served as Vice President of Specialized Claims at Liberty Mutual. He leads a multi-line professional claims team to implement data-driven claims strategies and improve operational efficiency and customer experience. During his career he has held various senior claims positions.

Pilko commented on the appointment: “Matt has deep leadership experience in complex claims and a proven track record of building strong teams and improving customer service. His expertise and leadership style are a perfect fit with AXA XL’s commitment to building leadership teams.”

Urueta added: “Matt’s appointment reflects our commitment to consistently high standards in global claims processing. His extensive experience in complex, specialized claims and his track record of leveraging data and technology will be invaluable as we continue to enhance our claims capabilities in the Americas and ensure consistency with our world-class claims processing. We are pleased to welcome him to the organization and our U.S. claims strategy.”
