Ardonagh’s pan-European managing general agency (MGA) platform Orvia Underwriting has appointed Carl van Lieshout as head of Dutch real estate, effective 1 June 2026
Orvia Underwriting was established in January 2026 and has strengthened its underwriting, distribution, technology and operational capabilities as it expands its European markets and business lines.
van Lieshout has more than thirty years of underwriting experience, having held senior positions at Everest International, Chubb Europe Group, ACE Europe Group, Allianz Global Risks and ING Group. MGA explained that he has a proven track record of successfully building, expanding and managing profitable real estate portfolios in the Benelux region.
In addition, Lieshout’s team will include Wout Jan Weide, André Vooijs and Robert Zijderveld, this decision will also come into effect on June 1, 2026.
Wade also has over thirty years of experience in property risk engineering. He helps large businesses manage property risk and will be responsible for supporting Orvia’s property proposition through technical risk assessment, risk improvement and underwriting excellence.
Vooijs has over 30 years of experience with insurance companies, MGAs and insurance brokers. Oriva explained that he is known for his analytical approach and results-driven mindset, combining deep market knowledge with strong underwriting expertise.
Zijderveld has nearly 25 years of experience in the property and casualty insurance market and is known for his technical underwriting knowledge, market insights and customer-centric approach. He brings underwriting expertise with a particular focus on commercial property risks for multinational clients.
