AXA XL, the property, casualty and special risks arm of French insurer AXA, has promoted Simon Murray to head of UK, Lloyd’s and US aerospace.
In his new role, Murray will lead the company’s aviation and aerospace underwriting strategy across three markets, supporting clients in an industry expected to reach $8.88 billion by 2034.
AXA XL explains that the promotion recognizes Murray’s “outstanding leadership of its UK and Lloyd’s aerospace teams” since 2020.
He has been with AXA XL for nearly two decades and brings relationships, vision and expertise to unite the company’s regions and drive growth.
Murray previously served as chief underwriting officer for British and Irish Airlines at XL Catlin for more than seven years.
He began his career at the insurance company as global product leader for XL Catlin Airlines.
