Aon integrates new AI benchmarks into Radford McLagan Compensation Database

Global insurance and reinsurance brokerage group Aon has launched enhancements to its Radford McLagan salary database as demand for artificial intelligence (AI) talent and roles increases across industries.

New platform capabilities integrate data, real-time insights and automation to provide a seamless experience for HR leaders.

It now reports on AI-specific job categories, providing better transparency into how the market defines and evaluates these roles.

These include titles such as Head of AI, Applied Research Scientist, Machine Learning Engineer, and AI Ethics. The platform is based on rigorously validated, non-crowdsourced data, covering 30 million employees and 150 job functions in 115 countries.

“Artificial intelligence requires organizations to make faster decisions in an environment where roles, skills and expectations are changing in real time,” said Byron Beebe, CEO of Aon Human Capital. “As organizations redesign jobs to keep pace with artificial intelligence, traditional frameworks are struggling to keep up. By expanding the Radford McLagan compensation database with new AI job families and enhanced analytics, we are helping leaders make compensation decisions based on current, reliable market data—even as the market continues to evolve.”

Artificial intelligence is rapidly changing work, requiring new skills that combine technical expertise with strategy, governance, risk and operations. Traditional role definitions and compensation structures struggle to keep up with the changing scope of work.

Core AI roles such as machine learning engineer, applied data and research scientist, and AI platform engineer are among the fastest-growing positions on the market, while demand for adjacent skills such as data engineering and cybersecurity is also growing, according to insights from the Radford McLagan Salary Database.

Paying extra for AI skills increases the challenge for organizations to remain competitive while ensuring fair and reasonable compensation.

Aon’s AI workforce solutions help companies understand how AI can automate or enhance work, guiding investments in employment, skills and talent strategies.

In addition to AI-specific job categories, Aon has enhanced the Radford McLagan Compensation Database to support HR leaders as they prepare for this change by delivering decision-ready compensation intelligence based on trusted market data.

Key database enhancements include: flexible, verified data submission; AI-enabled job matching and payroll assistance; and real-time labor market insights.

“Compensation leaders are being asked to act faster in AI-driven roles while supporting their decisions under the intense scrutiny of boards and regulators,” said Jason Trull, global head of talent data solutions at Aon. “In this environment, where defensibility is as important as speed, the quality of the underlying benchmarks becomes critical.”
